ISO-KF Clamps for Vacuum Systems
Lever-action quick-release clamps for ISO-KF vacuum flanges enable fast and reliable assembly and disassembly without the use of tools. Thanks to the conical profile, they ensure even pressure on the seal and secure sealing of the connections. Ideal for flexible and frequently serviced systems.
Operating principle: The clamp is a mechanical element that holds two KF/NW vacuum flanges firmly together and compresses a sealing O-ring between them, creating a vacuum-resistant connection.
Dimensions and compatibility
- NW (Nominal Width) 32 = internal diameter of the tube/flange ~ 32 mm
- 40 mm specifies the outer diameter of the flange itself, for which the clamp is dimensioned
- The clamps are standardised according to DIN 28403 (KF) and ISO 8668 (NW), ensuring interchangeability between manufacturers

Use of clamps
- Rapid assembly of vacuum systems
- Frequent disassembly (maintenance, cleaning, module replacement) – lever clamps can be managed without a screwdriver in a few seconds
- Laboratory lines, surface technologies (PVD/CVD), semiconductors, analytical equipment
Operating principle
- KF/NW flanges have an O-ring groove around the perimeter.
- The clamp surrounds both flanges and presses them together – the O-ring is flattened to create a seal up to 10⁻³–10⁻⁹ mbar.
- Thanks to constant radial pressure, the connection is highly leak-tight and mechanically robust.
Clamp Types
| Clamp type | Description | Advantages |
|---|---|---|
| Standard (screw) | Metal hoop with a screw and nut. Tightened with a wrench. | Simple, low cost. |
| Lever (quick-release) | Hoop with an integrated lever (knife mechanism). Locks/unlocks via the lever without tools. | Extremely fast assembly and disassembly. |
| Spring | Hoop equipped with pre-tensioned springs. | Self-adjusting pressure, more durable. |
Designation example:
- CLAMP KF/NW 32/40 – clamp for KF (NW) flanges with an internal diameter of 32 mm (often designated DN 32) and an outer flange diameter of 40 mm.
- LEVER CLAMP KF/NW 32/40 – same size, but with a lever (quick-release) mechanism.
